From August 17-21 and 24-28, hundreds of visitors from across the nation had the opportunity to experience the history and heritage of The President’s House. It was a pleasure to welcome so many families, friends, students and members of the national community.
The Heritage Tour and Exhibition marked an important convergence of milestones in our nation’s history: 150 years of The President’s House and 50 years of the Presidency.
Guests viewed the exhibition installation, ’50 Years. One Republic. Moments that Shaped a Nation,’ which traces defining constitutional milestones and pivotal moments in the evolution of the Presidency. They also had the opportunity to view newly installed portraits of all seven Presidents, as well as artefacts, gifts, informational display boards and other items that offer a glimpse into the history of the official residence and the Presidency.
Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Kerwyn Garcia SC, First Gentleman extend their sincere appreciation to everyone who attended the tours and exhibition, and to all those who helped bring this special experience to life.
We hope the experience offered visitors a deeper appreciation of the history of The President’s House and, most importantly, the people and stories behind it.
