Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, joined Habitat for Humanity Trinidad and Tobago, an organisation for which she is patron, for their Women Build 2024, on Thursday 16th May 2024.
Flanked by members of staff of the Office of the President and other volunteers from across the national community, Her Excellency applied the first coats of paint to the structure, which was being constructed for a family at Jogie Street, Barataria.
Women Build, a project of Habitat for Humanity, brings together women from all walks of life to assist in the construction of homes for families in need. Through their housing programmes and training initiatives, Habitat T&T has enabled thousands of Trinbagonians to achieve strength, stability and self-reliance.
Helping Habitat fulfil their vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live yesterday was an army of enthusiastic and dedicated women volunteers. Her Excellency took the time to greet and chat with these women who so patriotically volunteered their time and effort to help provide a family with a safe, stable and familiar environment. Her Excellency was delighted to be able to participate in an initiative which not only provided shelter for those in need, but also empowered women to serve their community and nation in a meaningful way.
