Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago joins with the family, friends and fans of the late international boxing champion Claude Noel in mourning his death.
Mr. Noel put Trinidad and Tobago boxing on the international map when, in 1981, he became this country’s first WBA lightweight champion. Mr. Noel’s career as a professional boxer spanned some 11 years during which he won 31 of his 41 bouts (18 by knockout), and twice claimed the Commonwealth Boxing Lightweight title.
Mr. Noel was awarded the Chaconia Medal GOLD in 1982.
The Office of the President salutes this son of the soil’s stellar contribution in the sporting arena. May he rest in eternal peace.
