It is with profound sadness, His Excellency Nigel de Freitas, Acting President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, marks the passing of Dr. Anna Mahase. A cherished and esteemed figure in Trinidad and Tobago, her dedication to the field of education has left an indelible mark on our nation, shaping countless lives through her unwavering commitment to excellence and progress.
Dr. Mahase served not only as a teacher but was the longest serving Principal of St. Augustine Girls’ High School. Her contributions to education were recognized, in 1975 when she was awarded The Public Service Medal of Merit Gold and in 1990, the Chaconia Medal Gold both for her contribution to Education, reflecting her unparalleled impact and the deep respect she garnered across our society. Her legacy as an educator and leader will continue to inspire future generations.
The Office of the President extends condolences to Dr. Mahase’s family, friends, and all who were touched by her remarkable life. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory continue to be a beacon of light for us all.
