Appointment of Puisne Judges to the High Court

Mrs. Maria Busby Earle-Caddle, Mr. Trevor Jones and Mrs. Indrani Cedeno were sworn in as Puisne Judges of the Supreme Court of Judicature yesterday Tuesday January 2 at The President’s House.

Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, then presented them with their Instruments of Appointment.

Mrs. Maria Busby Earle-Caddle obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

She was admitted to practice at the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 1989 then joined the Civil Law Department, Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs as a State Counsel I. She was appointed State Counsel II, in the Criminal Law Department of the Ministry in 1992.

Mrs. Busby Earle-Caddle was appointed a Magistrate, in January of 1995; Senior Magistrate in December of 2006 and Deputy Chief Magistrate, in January of 2017. Mrs. Busby Earle-Caddle held the position of Chief Magistrate from March 2018.

Mr. Trevor Jones holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School. He was admitted to practice at the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 2009 and in 2010 joined the Criminal Law Department of the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs rising to the position of State Counsel III.

From 2007 to 2014 Mr. Jones also lectured at the College of Legal Studies.

In January 2021 Mr. Jones was appointed a Master of the High Court.

Mrs. Indrani Cedeno obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

Mrs. Cedeno was admitted to practice at the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 1988 and operated her private practice until 1990 when she joined the Ministry of Finance as a State Counsel I. Mrs. Cedeno was appointed a Magistrate in January of 1995, and a Senior Magistrate in November of 2002. In January 2021 she was appointed a Master of the High Court.

Mrs Indrani Cedeno is a registered Certified Mediator for Civil Non-Family and Family matters and has participated in a workshop on Implementing International Standards in Youth Justice.

Witnessing the trio take their oaths was The Honourable the Chief Justice Mr Justice Ivor Archie O.R.T.T.
