Their Excellencies host an Iftar at The President’s House

On Thursday 13th March, 2025, Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Kerwyn Garcia SC, First Gentleman hosted an Iftar at The President’s House.

Following a brief ceremony in which Her Excellency delivered remarks, students from eight schools in San Fernando, Charlieville and Port of Spain, members of the UWI Islamic society and staff of the Office of the President joined Their Excellencies in breaking their fast with the Iftar meal.

The event was hosted with the kind assistance of the UWI Islamic Society.

On Tuesday March 18, 2025, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, presided over the Swearing-in Ceremony for the reappointments of Ms Natasha Ashby as a member of the Procurement Board; and Dr. Katija Khan as a member of the Public Service Commission.Ms. Natasha Ashby was first appointed as a member of the Procurement Board in March 2021. She is an Attorney-at-Law with over 23 years post qualification experience and substantive practice in Senior Management and professional roles in the aviation and energy sectors in legal, financial and commercial functions. Ms Ashby provides leadership and guidance on legal, compliance, governance and business issues to corporate and operational functions as well as an internal cadre of attorneys.Having first been appointed in March 2022, Dr. Katija Khan, brought over 20 years’ experience in applying evidence based psychological principles to empower the development of individuals organisations and communities to achieve healthy, adaptive productive and fulfilling functioning. Dr. Khan is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist, clinician, academic, scientist and mental health advocate. Her Excellency, Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago extends condolences to the family, friends and the countless students on the passing of Mr. Glenn de Souza, owner and founder of the Dragon Keylemanjahro School of Arts & Culture.According to the Carnival Institute of Trinidad and Tobago, “Since 1986, Dragon stood tall on the stilts of tradition, reviving the Moko Jumbie art form and using it as a force for change.
