Senator the Honourable Nigel de Freitas sworn in as Acting President

President of the Senate, Senator the Honourable Nigel de Freitas was today sworn-in as Acting President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago by the Honourable Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Ivor Archie at the Office of the President, Circular Road, St. Ann’s.

Acting President de Freitas assumes the duties of Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., who left the jurisdiction today on a short vacation. President Kangaloo returns to the country on August 24.

#ICYMI 🎶✨On Sunday 14th December 2025, Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and Kerwyn Garcia S.C., First Gentleman, attended The Lydian Singers’ 2025 Christmas production – ‘De Chile Faddah’ at Queen’s Hall. This year’s performance offered a local interpretation of the Nativity story through the eyes of Joseph, woven with the vibrant rhythms and soul of Trinbagonian culture.During the event, Their Excellencies had the pleasure of presenting a donation to Mary Care Centre, a Woodbrook-based sanctuary supporting teenage mothers and their babies on behalf of the Lydian Singers.
