Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, expresses heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr. Lionel S. D’Arceuil, distinguished table tennis player and national sporting icon.
Mr. D’Arceuil was widely regarded as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most accomplished and respected table tennis players. Over a career spanning several decades, he represented the nation with distinction at the national, regional, and international levels, earning admiration for his skill, discipline, and sportsmanship.
He achieved numerous national titles across multiple classifications and proudly represented Trinidad and Tobago in international competitions in the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Asia. His outstanding contribution to the sport of table tennis was recognised in 2001, when he was awarded the Hummingbird Medal (Silver).
Her Excellency joins the nation in remembering Mr. Lionel D’Arceuil’s remarkable legacy of excellence, dedication, and service to sport.
