Mr. Hochoy Charles, former Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes ORTT in Tobago this afternoon (Monday 28th January, 2019).
In August last year, Mr. Charles wrote Her Excellency requesting a meeting in Trinidad to discuss some issues of national importance. Her Excellency was unable to accommodate Mr. Charles at that time but suggested that he might find it convenient to await Her Excellency’s work week in Tobago in January 2019.
They discussed matters of National Security as they affect the Police and Prison Services: the lack of a prison in Tobago and the ensuing difficulty of prisoners housed in Trinidad making scheduled court appearances in Tobago. They also touched on the issue of self-determination and greater autonomy for Tobago.
