On Tuesday 24 March, 2026, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, received a courtesy visit from a delegation of veterans known as the DIEHARDS at The President's House.![]()

The DIEHARDS are a group of veteran officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment who served together during the 1990 attempted coup d'etat. The delegation comprised Brigadier General (Ret’d) Ancil Antoine, Brigadier General (Ret’d) Archilus Phillips, Colonel (Ret’d) George Robinson and Colonel (Ret’d) Michael Clarke.![]()

After years of study and preparation, tomorrow you will sit your Secondary Entrance Assessment examinations.![]()

As the day approaches it is perfectly natural to feel a little nervous. Do not let those feelings overwhelm you. Tonight, try to relax, and ensure you get a good night’s rest. When you enter the examination room, stay calm, take a few deep breaths and read each question carefully, and trust in all that you have learned. Believe in yourselves, just as your parents, teachers and your country believe in you.![]()

Do your best and remember that this examination does not define you or determine all that you can achieve. Each of you has your own talents and strengths and each of you has a future rich with possibility and promise.![]()

Your parents, guardians and teachers, who have supported and encouraged you every step of the way, will be cheering you on, and I will also be cheering you on. ![]()

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, attended the United Nations World Down Syndrome Day Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain. Her Excellency served as Guest of Honour and delivered remarks at this year’s conference, which was particularly significant as it commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Down Syndrome Family Network.![]()

For fifteen years, the Network, founded by Mr. Fitzherbert Glen Niles, has worked to advocate for the rights, dignity, and full inclusion of persons with Down syndrome and other disabilities throughout Trinidad and Tobago.![]()

Another highlight of this year’s programme was a feature presentation by motivational speaker Michael Schwab, a person with Down syndrome, whose life and accomplishments stand as a testament to what is possible when individuals are given opportunity, support, and belief.![]()

On Thursday March 19, 2026, Mr. Andrey Pritsepov, Ambassador-designate of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with residence in Georgetown, Guyana presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at a Presentation of Credentials ceremony at The President’s House. ![]()

During the visit, Ambassador Pritsepov, who was accompanied by Mr. Vslevolod D. Ivanov, Attaché at the Russian Embassy, also presented Her Excellency with the gift of a Matryoshka doll.![]()
