The Executive of CAISO, Trinidad and Tobago’s Coalition Advocating for Inclusion of Sexual Orientation, met with Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes, at the Office of The President in July. Ms. Angelique Nixon, Ms. Ardene Sirjoo, Ms. Susan Shim, Mr. Colin Robinson and Mr. Josh Drayton discussed matters pertinent to civil society including the local LGBTQI community with the President. The group expressed the view that civil society was not represented or at best under-represented on the Independent Senate bench and offered the services of its members for consideration in this respect. They were clear that they were not seeking to represent the interests of the LGBT community exclusively but also the wider interests of civil society in respect of whose issues CAISO has been at the forefront.
