Mr David West re-appointed as Director of the PCA

Mr. David Vere Warren West took the Oath of Office to be reappointed as a Director of the Police Complaints Authority before His Excellency, Nigel de Freitas, Acting President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at a ceremony at the Office of the President on December 13, 2024.

Mr. David West has been the Director of the Police Complaints Authority since November 2014. Having gained an Honours degree in Economics and Law from Brunel University in Middlesex in 1992, Mr. West went on to a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London (External) and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School. After being called to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 1996, Mr. West eventually became in 2000 the Senior Legal Executive in the Central Authority Unit of the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs. From 2004 to 2008, he was the Head of the Unit before moving into private practice at El Dorado Chambers and then becoming the Director of the Police Complaints Authority in 2014.

His Excellency Nigel de Freitas, Acting President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago thanked Mr. West for his continued service.

On Tuesday 4 June 2025, students from Class Enterprise Private Secondary School and Arima Girls’ RC School visited the Office of the President for a tour of The President’s House and grounds. The fine weather allowed both groups to complete the full tour, which included learning about and exploring the grounds and viewing the public rooms of the House.Class Enterprise Private Secondary School also had the opportunity to witness the guard of honour with mounted escort, which forms part of the Presentation of Credentials ceremony. Mrs. Raquel Josefina Jacobo Jaar, Ambassador-designate of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, presented her Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, on Tuesday 3 June, 2025.The Ambassador also presented Her Excellency with a brooch and earrings made of mother-of-pearl and Larimar, a rare blue stone found only in the Dominican Republic, symbolizing peace, clarity and the beauty of the Caribbean Sea, as well as a scarf featuring the national flowers of the Dominican Republic.Her Excellency welcomed the Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago and wished her every success in her new post.Students of Class Enterprise Private Secondary School, who were touring The President’s House and grounds that morning, had the opportunity to witness the segment of the ceremony featuring the guard of honour with mounted escort. ... 📚✨ #ICYMIOn Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Kerwyn Garcia SC, First Gentleman, welcomed approximately 50 children to Storytime at The President’s House.Students from Fishing Pond Presbyterian School and Four Roads Government Primary School took turns reading from Boy Boy and the Magic Drum by Machel Montano.
