World Diabetes Day 2025

World Diabetes Day 2025

Theme: “Know More and Do More for Diabetes at Work”

On World Diabetes Day 2025, His Excellency Kerwyn Garcia S.C., First Gentleman of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Patron of the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago, joins the global call to build healthier, more supportive workplaces for people living with diabetes.

Seven in ten people living with diabetes around the world are of working age. Many face challenges at work — from stigma and discrimination to limited access to the care and flexibility they need. This year’s theme reminds us that small changes in our workplaces can make a big difference: understanding, empathy, and support help people living with diabetes manage their condition with confidence and dignity.

Here in Trinidad and Tobago, where diabetes remains one of our leading causes of death, this call to action is even more urgent. We can all play our part by promoting healthy habits, supporting colleagues, and helping to create workplaces that prioritise wellbeing.
