The Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust has been in existence since 1966 and is the second oldest Wetland Conservation Trust in the world. Trust representatives Ms. Molly Gaskin and Ms. Karilyn Shepard recently visited President Weekes and discussed the work of the Trust in particular the organisation’s impact on education. They spoke of the Trust’s many publications presenting Her Excellency with a copy of their book A Picture Book of Life at Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust published in commemoration of their 50th Anniversary.

Her Excellency was brought up to date on the growth of the Trust and its work with other NGOs in advancing a wide range of causes and the many infrastructural improvements the Trust has been making over the years including their current thrust to make the facility fully accessible to the disabled.

It is Her Excellency’s strong recommendation that a visit to the Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust, should be mandatory for all school children. Indeed adults too would gain much by touring the facility. Her Excellency will be visiting soon to meet the staff and tour the Trust.
