On Friday 14 November 2025, Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and Kerwyn Garcia SC, First Gentleman, visited the JC Mac Donald Home for the Aged in observance of the World Day of Kindness, celebrated annually on November 13.
Staff of the Office of the President prepared and served lunch for the Home’s residents and staff. Their Excellencies used the opportunity to chat with residents and visit with former Chair of the Home and former Principal of Naparima College, Dr. Allan McKenzie.
Adding to the day’s festivity, members of the Office of the President Choir made their debut performance, serenading residents with music and Christmas cheer.
Their Excellencies were joined on the visit by Ms. Michelle Gopaulsingh, Chair of the Home; Ms. Joan Awardy, Vice Chair; Nurse Dean Griffith, Manager; and Mr. Kelvin Harnanan, Treasurer.
Founded in 1931 by members of the Presbyterian faith, the JC Mac Donald Home for the Aged in San Fernando began as a shelter for homeless individuals and continues to serve today as a retirement home for the elderly.
