Their Excellencies congratulate the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago on their National Youth Award

Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Kerwyn Garcia SC First Gentleman, congratulate the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) on being awarded “MODEL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME AWARD (GROUP) 2024 ” by the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service at the recently held National Youth Awards.

As patron of the DATT, His Excellency strongly advocates for education and youth development especially as it relates to health and wellness. This award is significant not only as an acknowledgement of the tremendous work of the DATT and the multiplier effect it has on those in the programme and their circle of influence but must serve as a motivator for more young persons to get involved and find their voice.

“I’m convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they’re stones that don’t matter. As long as you’re breathing, it’s never too late to do some good.”- Maya Angelou

Congratulations to the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Office of the President of the Republic of T&T
Message from Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to SEA students 2026My Dear SEA students,After years of study and preparation, tomorrow you will sit your Secondary Entrance Assessment examinations. As the day approaches it is perfectly natural to feel a little nervous. Do not let those feelings overwhelm you. Tonight, try to relax, and ensure you get a good night’s rest. When you enter the examination room, stay calm, take a few deep breaths and read each question carefully, and trust in all that you have learned. Believe in yourselves, just as your parents, teachers and your country believe in you.Do your best and remember that this examination does not define you or determine all that you can achieve. Each of you has your own talents and strengths and each of you has a future rich with possibility and promise.Your parents, guardians and teachers, who have supported and encouraged you every step of the way, will be cheering you on, and I will also be cheering you on. The entire nation stands proudly with you.I wish you every success, and I extend my very best wishes to you and your families. May God bless and strengthen you all. ... See MoreSee Less

“When we choose inclusion, we choose connection. When we choose connection, we diminish loneliness. And when we stand together, there is no barrier we cannot overcome.”On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, attended the United Nations World Down Syndrome Day Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain. Her Excellency served as Guest of Honour and delivered remarks at this year’s conference, which was particularly significant as it commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Down Syndrome Family Network. For fifteen years, the Network, founded by Mr. Fitzherbert Glen Niles, has worked to advocate for the rights, dignity, and full inclusion of persons with Down syndrome and other disabilities throughout Trinidad and Tobago.Another highlight of this year’s programme was a feature presentation by motivational speaker Michael Schwab, a person with Down syndrome, whose life and accomplishments stand as a testament to what is possible when individuals are given opportunity, support, and belief.📸For more photos: flic.kr/s/aHBqjCNW42 ...
