The President’s Awards for Service Excellence and Innovation in the Public Sector is tied to the third pillar of the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Country Group Strategy for Trinidad and Tobago which is: “strengthening country institutions and governance”.The intention of the competition is to recognise initiatives of public sector institutions that have had a lasting and positive impact on the sector given its evolving needs and challenges.
The competition had two judging panels for its two categories: service excellence and innovation. Her Excellency was the only common member across both panels of judges.
Eight institutions were shortlisted and invited to submit their presentations to the judging panels.
And the winners are: the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in the Service Excellence Category and the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation in the Innovation Category.
The People’s Choice went to the EMA in the Service Excellence Category and the Police Complaints Authority in the Innovation Category.
