Last weekend, the entire country held its breath hoping against hope that the five divers missing after an underwater accident would somehow emerge alive. We were overjoyed when one, Christopher Boodram, was rescued, but hope turned to mourning when it was realised that the other four, Kazim Ali Jr., Yusuf Henry, Fyzal Kurban and Rishi Nagassar, had not survived the ordeal, the last body being recovered earlier today. On behalf of a traumatised nation, Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. To the lone survivor, Christopher Boodram, the nation prays that you will find the courage to endure.
