Promptly at 8:00am this morning Monday June 7, Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago received her second dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine against Covid-19 at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah. President Weekes along with her nonagenarian mother Phyllis Weekes, who had both received their first doses at the Diego Martin Health Centre on April 6, were among the first to receive their second doses as distribution of second dose Astra Zeneca vaccines began today.

President Weekes, who is in her 60s is very happy and relieved to have received the protection the vaccine confers and urged everyone to take the vaccine as soon as it becomes available to them. “Those of us of a certain age know all too well what a critical part vaccines have played in the survival of humankind. Without vaccines against such dreadful and deadly diseases as small pox, polio, tetanus, diphtheria we would not all be here and certainly not hale and healthy well into our eighties and nineties. I urge all my fellow citizens to take the vaccine. Protect yourself, protect your loved ones. Protect us all.”
