With an estimated 2.2 billion people worldwide living with vision impairment, regular vision checks can help identify problems early and ensure that people receive the care they need.![]()
His Excellency Kerwyn Garcia, SC, First Gentleman of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Patron of the Blind Welfare Society, encourages everyone to prioritise their vision and eye health, have their eyes checked regularly and support efforts to ensure that persons living with visual impairment have access to the care and support they need.![]()

Dr. Carol Logie and Mr. McCaster Julien took their Oaths of Office and received their Instruments of Appointment as Chairman and Member of the TSC, respectively, while Mr. Inshan Mohamed received his Instrument of Appointment upon his reappointment as a Member.![]()
Dr. Carol Logie is an educational leader and international consultant with thirty plus years of experience in teacher training, educational policy, teacher development, curriculum design, and child protection. She has extensive leadership and consulting experience across the Caribbean, with international engagement in Africa, Europe, and the Americas. ![]()
From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Logie was the Chair of the Childrenâs Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. Previous to that, she served as a lecturer and Research Fellow in Education at the University of the West Indies School of Education at St. Augustine, rising to Senior Lecturer in 2020. From 2002 to 2009, Dr. Logie was the Chair of the National Council for Early Childhood Care and Education.![]()
Dr. Logie has had considerable experience working with regional governments, universities, foundations, international development organizations, and Caribbean institutions. Since 2002, Dr. Logie has served as a Professional Resource Advisor for the Cotton Tree Foundation Preschool/ECCE Centre, Trinidad and Tobago. From 2013 to 2015, she was an Advisory Board Member for SERVOL in Trinidad and Tobago. ![]()
Mr. McCaster Julien has had over thirty years as an attorney at law with over twenty years experience in a combination of junior and senior positions across the Trinidad and Tobagoâs Upstream Oil and Gas sector, including a track record of working on major projects, providing a variety of legal services and business partnering. ![]()
After obtaining a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies with an emphasis on Commercial Law courses, Mr. Julien received the Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School and was admitted to practice in Trinidad and Tobago in 1994.![]()
After acting as Legal Counsel for the Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago from 2001 to 2008, Mr. Julien occupied a key managerial position in the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago until 2013 when he became General Counsel for Exploration and Production at Petrotrin. From 2018 to 2022, Mr. Julien was the Senior Legal Counsel for Shell Trinidad and Tobago Limited moving in 2023 to Heritage Petroleum Company until September 2026.

His Excellency RaĂșl Alberto FlorentĂn Antola, Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with residence in Washington, D.C., United States of America, and Her Excellency Giuditta Giorgio, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with residence in Panama City, Panama, formally presented their Letters of Credence to Her Excellency the President.![]()
Ambassador Giorgio was accompanied by Mr. Mirko DâAlessĂo, Honorary Consul for the Italian Republic in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and Mr. Vincenzo Puglia, Consular Official at the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Panama.

Held as Trinidad and Tobago marks 50 years since becoming a Republic, the reception brought together a wide cross-section of stakeholders from across the public and private sectors. The evening served as an opportunity for Their Excellencies and the Office of the President to recognise and express their gratitude to those who support the work of the Office in its daily operations, as well as its special projects and national initiatives.![]()
In a toast to the eveningâs guests, Her Excellency the President expressed her profound gratitude for their continued support and service to Trinidad and Tobago.![]()
The occasion also saw the Office of the President receive its awards from the 47th Annual Telly Awards 2026 for "Letâs Learn About the President," the Officeâs childrenâs animation series.![]()
