Her Excellency lays wreath on Memorial Day

At 11am on Sunday 10th November, 2024, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, joined Commonwealth Heads around the world in the laying of the ceremonial wreath at the Cenotaph in recognition of Remembrance Day.

At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations, began at 11am on 11 November 1918. Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms.

Memorial Day therefore serves to acknowledge the courage and gallantry of those who served their country during the World War.
