Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, delivered the Feature Address on Saturday 8 November, 2025 at the Opening Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain’s 25th Annual Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, held under the theme “Peace and Human Rights.”
The MUN programme engages students in simulated sessions of the United Nations, helping them develop skills in diplomacy, negotiation, research and public speaking while fostering global awareness and cooperation. This year’s conference welcomed more than 200 youth delegates from Trinidad and Tobago, Curaçao, Grenada, Antigua, Montserrat and St. Vincent.
In her address, Her Excellency encouraged participants to see themselves as “followers and imitators of pathways to peace,” reminding them that peace, though often difficult to achieve, “is valuable enough to require great effort.” She expressed confidence in the ability of young people across Trinidad and Tobago and the region “to tackle and solve the intractable problems of our time, one small step at a time.”
Her Excellency commended the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain for its 25 years of dedication to this transformative initiative, noting that through its investment in youth, “the Rotary Club has helped to guide our nation, our region, and indeed our world, towards a brighter and more peaceful future.”
