Courtesy Call by His Excellency Dennis Francis

His Excellency Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Nigel de Freitas, Acting President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, today, August 5, 2024, at the President’s House.

A ‘son of the soil’, His Excellency Dennis Francis has had a career spanning approximately forty years in the Diplomatic Service of Trinidad and Tobago. For eighteen of those years unbroken, he held the rank of Ambassador until his compulsory retirement from the Public Service in 2016, according him the distinction of being the longest serving Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago.

Ambassador Francis has served as Trinidad and Tobago’s Principal Representative in Jamaica and Geneva, and before demitting office, as Senior Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on all multilateral matters including Climate Change and the negotiations for the post-2015 Development Agenda. He is highly respected and admired, not only within the Diplomatic Community, but also at the highest levels of major International Organizations.

His Excellency Dennis Francis was accompanied by Ms. Devita Abraham Special Advisor to the President of the General Assembly (Trip Captain), Amb. Collen Vixen Kelapile, Chef De Cabinet, Mr. Hassan Adam Special Assistant to the President of the General Assembly and Mr. Garvin Pettier, Director, Multilateral Relations Division, Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

On Tuesday, 8th July 2025, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, received a courtesy visit from two representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) at The President’s House. On Tuesday, 8th July 2025, Mr. Chrisendath Mahabir was reappointed as a member of the Salaries Review Commission in a ceremony held at The President’s House. Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago presented Mr. Mahabir with his Instrument of Appointment and thanked him for his continued service to Trinidad and Tobago.Mr. Chrisendath Mahabir is an Attorney-at-law who holds experience in a number of other areas including teaching, management consultancy, industrial relations and public sector administration.
