Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago notes with profound sadness the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. As an alumnus of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme, I can attest to the far-reaching and profound effect HRH Prince Philip had on teenagers around the world. His support, devotion and absolute fealty to Her Majesty the Queen, his service as a naval officer in WWII, his advocacy for conservation, and his keen participation in a variety of sports and outdoor activities are other aspects of his long and distinguished life which are to be admired. On behalf of the people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and on my own behalf, I extend deepest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen, the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I wish for them the blessings of the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation.
