The 19th edition of the Cotton Tree Foundation’s annual Golf Charity Tournament teed off under the patronage of Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, yesterday, Wednesday 15th May, 2024 at the St Andrews Golf Club in Maraval. An exciting day of golf followed Her Excellency’s opening of the competition in which several teams participated. The tournament is a significant fundraiser for the Foundation, with proceeds going towards supporting its community and youth development objectives.The Cotton Tree Foundation is a non-governmental organization founded in 1993 by Desmond Allum S. In her quest to create comprehensive, professional archives at the Office of the President, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, has been visiting archival collections of past Governors General, Presidents and Prime Ministers of this country located at the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) Libraries. In March, Her Excellency viewed the President Ellis Clarke archives at NALIS's spanking new library in Diego Martin. Last week Her Excellency visited NALIS's main facility on Abercromby Street, Port of Spain to view exhibits from the archives of Governor General Sir Solomon Hochoy, Prime Minister George Chambers as well as West Indian cricketer and diplomat Sir Learie Constantine.The research is proving very useful and with NALIS's example to follow, the Office of the President hopes to get its archiving project up and running before long. ...
