In a ceremony held at The President’s House on June 1, 2026, Mr. Shiva Sinanan took the Oath of Office to act in the Office of the Auditor General of Trinidad and Tobago before Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Sinanan is an experienced audit and public sector professional with more than thirty (30) years of service in accounting, auditing, and public administration. In 1992, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure and Applied Physics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. He later completed the ACCA examinations and became a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). In 2005, he completed a Diploma in Theology from the Open Bible Institute of Theology in 2005 and in 2013, completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Human Resource Management from the Australian Institute of Business.
Mr. Sinanan began his professional career in 1992 as a Registry Clerk before joining the Auditor Generalโs Department in 1993 as an Accounts Clerk. He progressed through several positions, including Examiner Assistant, Senior Examiner Assistant, Assistant Auditor General and Audit Director. Throughout his career, he has led audit teams, supervised audits of government ministries, departments, statutory boards and special projects and has contributed to the development of audit policies and procedures.
