Her Excellency Receives the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

In a simple ceremony at President’s House on Wednesday March 29, 2023, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago was conferred with the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
The O.R.T.T., this country’s highest National Award, was presented to Her Excellency by the Honourable the Chief Justice Mr. Justice Ivor Archie O.R.T.T.
As the Chief Justice explained during the ceremony, the President of the Republic receives this award by convention and by virtue of being the Chancellor of the Distinguished Society of Trinidad and Tobago, the Order to which all National Award recipients belong.
Witnessing the presentation was Dr. the Honourable Keith Christopher Rowley, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and President Kangaloo’s husband His Excellency Kerwyn Garcia.
As a cancer survivor herself, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, brings a deeply personal commitment to her role as Patron of the Cancer Society. Her Excellency visited the Headquarters of the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society and Vitas House, underscoring the invaluable contributions of the dedicated teams at both institutions. These visits highlighted the pivotal role these organizations play in supporting individuals and families affected by cancer whether through easily accessible testing and counselling services and in the case of Vitas House, hospice care.
