Their Excellencies visit the Desperadoes Steel Orchestra

Desperadoes Steel Orchestra hosted its stakeholder night on Tuesday February 18, 2025 at its Pan Theatre on George Street POS as the West Indian Tobacco Company Limited (WITCO) celebrated 60 years of partnership with the Desparados Steel Orchestra.

Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Kerwyn Garcia S.C., First Gentleman attended the event and were greeted by Ms Ingrid Lashley, Chairman WITCO, Hiram Murillo, Managing Director WITCO and Selby Browne, Vice Chair, Desperados Steel Orchestra,

The Desperadoes Steel Orchestra has a rich history of innovation, international performances, and awards. The band was originally called the “Laventille Band” and then the “Dead End Kids.” In the 1950s, three Laventille bands merged to form the Desperadoes and in 1965 the band’s sponsor changed to the West Indian Tobacco Company.

Congratulations to WITCO and Desperados for their contribution to the promotion of the steelpan.
