On Thursday February 20, 2025, Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and Kerwyn Garcia SC, First Gentleman visited the NGC Couva Joylanders Steel Orchestra on the third stop of their 2025 tour of pan yards.

It was a joy for Their Excellencies to meet the incredibly talented and dedicated band members, admire their impressive trophies, and revel in the sweet sounds of pan.

A huge congratulations to the NGC Couva Joylanders as they prepare for the grand Finals on Sunday, February 23, at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago!

Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, expresses heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr. Daphne Phillips, former Government Minister, Senator, and lifelong public servant.Dr. Phillips’ career was marked by her dedication to advancing women’s empowerment and community and family development. She was a trained social scientist and an experienced nurse and educator who taught and mentored health professionals across the region. Dr. Phillips served as Minister of Community Development, Culture and Women’s Affairs; Minister of Culture and Gender Affairs; and Minister in the Ministry of Community Empowerment, Sport and Consumer Affairs.
