Their Excellencies visit Schools in Central Trinidad

Their Excellencies Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Kerwyn Garcia SC, First Gentleman, visited four schools in central Trinidad on Wednesday 6th March, 2024.

First stop on this, their second school tour for the year, was Preysal Secondary School. After speaking with the five Form One classes, Their Excellencies distributed binders to each student. The entire school then assembled in the auditorium where Their Excellencies were treated to performances by talented students.

Then it was on to Preysal Government Primary School. Here, Their Excellencies chatted with the 35 Standard Five students who each received reusable water bottles. Their Excellencies then toured the rest of the school greeting students and teachers in their classrooms and being serenaded by a 9 year old tassa drummer, a keyboardist, also 9 years old and a 5 year old pannist.

Upper Carapichaima Presbyterian Primary School was the third school visited. Here, Their Excellencies chatted with the 22 Standard Five students who also received water bottles. After which the 212-member school assembled and put on some cultural performances for Their Excellencies.

Last stop on the tour was Freeport Presbyterian Primary School where Their Excellencies met with the two Standard Five classes, presenting each student with reusable water bottles. The school choir and recorder ensemble then serenaded Their Excellencies as all 291 students and 16 staff members gave their full support.

On Friday 10 July 2026, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, received a courtesy call from a delegation of the Anjuman Sunnat-ul-Jamaat Association (ASJA) led by its Acting President General, Imam Ahamad Hosein.
