In her quest to create comprehensive, professional archives at the Office of the President, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, has been visiting archival collections of past Governors General, Presidents and Prime Ministers of this country located at the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) Libraries.
In March, Her Excellency viewed the President Ellis Clarke archives at NALIS’s spanking new library in Diego Martin.
Last week Her Excellency visited NALIS’s main facility on Abercromby Street, Port of Spain to view exhibits from the archives of Governor General Sir Solomon Hochoy, Prime Minister George Chambers as well as West Indian cricketer and diplomat Sir Learie Constantine.
The research is proving very useful and with NALIS’s example to follow, the Office of the President hopes to get its archiving project up and running before long.
