His Excellency Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohit, High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago presented Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) in the sphere of Public Affairs on Sunday 26 January, 2025.
The PBSA is the highest award usually conferred by the President of India on Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin or an organization/institution established and run by the Non-Resident Indians or Persons of Indian Origin in recognition of their outstanding achievements both in India and abroad as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention was held from 8–10 January 2025 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India where the award was presented to 26 other awardees from around the world.
Circumstances prevented Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago from attending the event in person, however, in her role as Chief Guest, Her Excellency delivered pre-recorded remarks at the inaugural session of the convention.
