Her Excellency extends her condolences on the passing of Roy Cape

Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, expresses her profound sadness at the passing of Roy Francis Cape.

Known to many as a cultural icon, ambassador, mentor, and extraordinarily talented musician, Roy Cape, fondly called ‘Pappy,’ was a revered philanthropist, gifted saxophonist, and influential musical director. Over his remarkable five-decade career, he profoundly impacted the lives of numerous emerging artists, championing musical growth and development. His legacy of positive change will resonate through future generations.

In recognition of his significant contributions to culture, Mr. Cape was honoured with the Hummingbird Medal Gold in 2004.

The Office of the President extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Roy Cape.
