Condolences on the Passing of Dr Maura Imbert

Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, mourns the death of Dr. Maura Imbert.

Dr. Imbert was a biochemist and university lecturer but it was for her work in the field of Astronomy that she was recognised with a Hummingbird Medal GOLD in the 2019 National Awards.

A founding member of the Trinidad and Tobago Astronomical Society, Dr. Imbert was involved in the precise videotaping of the occultation of a star by Titania, one of the moons of the planet Uranus. As a result, this once-in-a-lifetime event can now be viewed by many international astronomical societies and on several websites.

Her Excellency extends deepest condolences to the family, friends and students of the late Dr. Maura Imbert. May she rest in eternal peace.
