Appointment to the Elections and Boundaries Commission

Mrs. Karla Drayton-Edwards took the Oath of Office to be appointed as a Member of the Elections and Boundaries Commission before Her Excellency, Christine Carla Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at a ceremony at the Office of the President, at 10:30 am on Tuesday February 4, 2025.

Ms Karla Drayton Edwards is a results-driven executive with a strong background in Information Technology, network support and managed services. After gaining a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Sciences from Morgan State University in Baltimore, she began her professional working life at the Environmental Protection Agency in the United States before moving to Verizon Communications in Arlington, Virginia.

Returning to Trinidad and Tobago in 2002, she first worked at CLICO Investment Bank as a Systems Administrator and then at CommNet Caribbean Limited as the Senior Business Development Manager. In 2008, Ms Edwards moved to Metropolitan Networks Caribbean Limited where she is at present the Chief Executive officer.

Passionate about promoting environmentally responsible IT practices, she is skilled at integrating Green IT solutions that support business objectives while advancing environmental stewardship. In 2014, Ms Edwards’ work was recognised with the Ingram Micro Achievement Award for Excellence in Latin America and the Caribbean

Her Excellency congratulates Ms Edwards on her appointment and thanks her for her service.

Last Thursday, the Office of the President was pleased to welcome the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago's 6th Form Internship Programme for a tour of The President’s House and grounds.Joining the interns was a very special guest — 5-year-old K'Jhené Francis, who has already set her sights on one day calling The President’s House her own.
