His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona ORTT, SC. President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, returning to the Residence after attending the Republic Day Prayer Service at the Grand Stand noticed a newlywed couple having wedding photos taken in the Bandstand in the Royal Botanic Gardens in front of the President’s House.
To the surprise of the wedding couple Mr and Mrs Jaymie Rodriguez and the rest of the wedding party, President Carmona approached and asked if he could have a few photos with them on such a significant occasion and the start of one of life’s greatest journeys.
The entire wedding party was absolutely shocked to the point, that family members from overseas expressed their delight at this occurrence. Never in life did they ever believe they would be able to have photos so close to a President. His Excellency took photos with the bride and groom, the wedding party and friends and family who were present. This undoubtedly would be some of the most memorable photos in the young couple’s life.
This was not the first time President Carmona surprised a wedding party. In 2013 upon assuming office the President decided to have a series of Oxygen Concerts in the Bandstand, another newlywed couple came to the gardens to have their wedding photos taken. His Excellency approached the couple and asked if they would like to have their first wedding dance in the Bandstand?
His Excellency also suggested for their first dance, the Al Green classic song, “Let’s stay together.” The song was performed by the Fire Services Band of Trinidad and Tobago. Needless to say, it was a truly memorable occasion.Share
