His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, ORTT, SC President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago received Letters of Credence from His Excellency Dr Alfonso Munera Cavadia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Republic of Columbia to The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. His Excellency Dr Alfonso Munera Cavadia was accompanied by his wife Mrs Lucia Stella Mejia Robles.
A noted and well publicised initiative of President Carmona, since assuming office is the presence of school students at Official Functions of State to witness governance at work. This occasion was no different. However, due to the pending examination period, only three (3) students from Diego Martin Secondary School were able to attend.
For these three (3) students and their accompanying teacher, this visit to the Office of the President would not be forgotten. So impressed was Ambassador Cavadia with His Excellency’s initiative regarding the students and the reasoning behind it, that he felt compelled to further inspire the students.
As such, Ambassador Cavadia extend an invitation to students Kadesia Turpin, Fericia Rolle, Kerym Suraj and their teacher Mr Michael Adamson to visit his hometown of Cartagena, Colombia. The Ambassador further stated that although he is unable to cover their international transportation cost, he will provide hotel accommodation, meals and local transportation and this can form the basis of a cultural exchange.
Ambassador Cavadia went on to tell the students that he had never met a President with such a genuine interest in young people to have them present at occasions such as this one. He went on to tell them that they were truly fortunate to have His Excellency as their President.Share
