Pete K. London Appointed to the Integrity Commission

His Excellency, the President Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, ORTT, SC, appointed accountant and business executive Mr. Pete K. London as a member of the Integrity Commission on September 25, 2014.

Mr. London replaces accountant Mr. Joel Edwards who resigned in July, less than two months after he was appointed. By law the commission must have an accountant and a lawyer as members or it would not be properly constituted.

At the time of his appointed, President Anthony Carmona thanked Mr London for his courage, accepting the call to serve his country in this capacity.

Carmona further recalled inviting many certified accountants to serve but the moment he identified the area of service as the Integrity Commission, they backed away, citing the unfair criticism made by politicians of those persons engaged in public service.

Mr London was described as a business executive with a highly successful track record in logistics, operations, financial management, information systems development and implementation, profitability enhancement and strategic planning.

It was further stated the Mr. London is a creative, industrious achiever with excellent organisational, analytical, interpretative skills with a definite bias for results.

He graduated from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Management and then in 1984 with a Master of Science in Accounting.

In 1986 he gained his Associate Chartered Management Accountant certification from the London School of Accountancy, United Kingdom. Mr. London’s swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by his brothers Malcolm, Keith and Michael, and son Jhamari.
