Mrs Eunice Mc Donald-Grant Appointed Member of The Statutory Authorities Appeal Board

His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, ORTT, SC President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago appointed Mrs Eunice Mc Donald-Grant as a member of the Statutory Authorities Appeal Board.

President Carmona, upon presenting Mrs Mc Donald-Grant with her Instrument of Appointment, applauded her for her expertise and legal knowledge which grew from its embryonic stage at Naparima Girls’ High School, then onto the University of the West Indies, St Augustine and the Hugh Wooding Law School, St Augustine.  Her rare mix of legal, ministerial and teaching experience and her intellectually equipping herself would result in her stint being for the greater good of Trinidad and Tobago.

His Excellency further stated that Mrs Mc Donald-Grant appointment as a member of the Statutory Authorities Appeal Board will be a continuation of a saga of genuine public service as throughout her life she has shown personal inspiration and ambition.

Noted by the President was the fact that Mrs Mc Donald-Grant was the sister of international journalist at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Trevor Mc Donald, a person who he admires and applauds.

His Excellency went on to speak on the issue of “fake news” which is prevalent in our country and the world today.  He sought to challenge the frequently used label: “As a society, we have a tendency to use the label of “fake news” too often, but, in reality, isn’t “fake news” simply lies and a distortion of the truth?”

In closing, President Carmona noted that he Statutory Authorities Appeal Board will be fortified by Mrs Eunice Mc Donald-Grant’s addition.

A number of Mrs Mc Donald-Grant’s family and friends were present at the ceremony.
