Mr Allan Noreiga Appointed Member of The Teaching Service Commission

His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, ORTT, SC President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago appointed Mr Allan Simon Noreiga as a member of the Teaching Service Commission.

Mr Noreiga, has an extensive background in education including, being the Head of the Department of Social Studies and Supervisor at the Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies.  He has been commended for the scholastic leadership which he has exercised over the years.  This was made evident when he was once nominated as the “Teacher of the Year” by the local teaching fraternity.

President Carmona during the appointment ceremony stated that the qualities demonstrated by Mr Noreiga, are the embodiment of any person in the Public Service.  His Excellency went on to say “As members of the Pubic Service, the litmus test for discharging our functions is excellence in our duties.”  His Excellency further cautioned, “We do not live in a perfect world.  One must be ready to face the slings and arrows of being involved in the Public Service.”

In conclusion His Excellency who is convinced that Trinidad and Tobago is a great nation that would benefit from a cultural shift towards a solution-based rather than a problem-based approach towards national issues, expressed his hope that Mr Noreiga would act in his capacity to assist in the discovery of solutions to the educational and administrative problems affecting the nation.

In attendance at the ceremony were Dr Fazal Ali, Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Dr Marjorie Thorpe, former Chairman of the Public Service Commission and family and friends of Mr Noreiga.
